AQU Catalunya meets with the Quality Technical Units of Catalan universities
After presenting them with the ‘Director’s Report,’ the Agency’s director updated them on the rollout of the new QUALINS Framework.

Today, AQU Catalunya held a virtual meeting with the quality technical units from the 12 Catalan universities. The session began with a presentation by the Director of AQU Catalunya, Jaume Valls Pasola, who shared his report highlighting the agency’s key updates to keep attendees informed.
This Director’s Report started by reviewing the status of the current evaluation processes (VSMA, institutional accreditation, and certification) and continued with the progress on updating the teaching evaluation methodology, which the agency plans to complete during the last quarter of 2025. Valls also provided an update on the development of the Reference Frameworks in Medicine and Education. A first proposal for the Medicine framework is expected to be presented to stakeholders by the end of the year, while the Education working group has already been formed and held its initial meeting. Additionally, Valls touched on ongoing regulatory changes and various studies currently being conducted by the agency.
Looking ahead, Valls informed the technical teams about upcoming public events organized by AQU Catalunya: one focused on the social dimension in universities and another on training students in university quality assurance, both scheduled for late 2025.
Regarding the QUALINS Framework, Valls provided an update on its deployment. AQU Catalunya has launched a change management process involving the review of methodologies and procedures, which is expected to be presented to the CAIP (Advisory Committee for Institutional Accreditation) by December 2025. Furthermore, the agency has started analyzing ways to simplify the verification and substantial modification processes.
This was the second meeting of 2025 between AQU Catalunya and the quality technical units of Catalan universities, with the next session planned for November.
