AQU Catalunya, new member of the GAIN network
The Global Academic Integrity Network is a network of 40 agencies from all over the world who have joined forces to fight the rise of fraudulent commercial services targeting university students.
AQU Catalunya has joined the Global Academic Integrity Network (GAIN). Via its website,
the network has informed that the Agency has joined the group of members, which includes agencies located around the world. The network is a consortium of 40 higher education quality assurance agencies from around the world that are joining forces to combat the growth in the number of companies that provide students with tools to commit academic fraud during their education and training. Founded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland and Australia's Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the network aims to protect students, their qualifications and the integrity of university systems. To do this, GAIN shares experiences and resources to help other jurisdictions develop legislation, regulatory approaches and frameworks that penalise commercial academic fraud services.
AQU Catalunya has embraced the aims and commitments of GAIN, which is open to quality agencies as well as to other organisations that contribute to ensuring academic integrity. As a member of the network, the Agency has the obligation to share information about fraudulent commercial services, to explore general approaches to disrupting and preventing these practices, and to highlight the reputational risk they represent.
More information on the content of the network can be found in the following article, which was published in the AQU Catalunya Newsletter of July 2024: The fight against commercial academic fraud services worldwide.
