In addition, the training aims to provide an overview of the latest developments in quality assurance from both international and local perspectives.
The event, organised by AQU Catalunya and the Council of Students of Catalan Universities (CEUCAT), will be attended by the director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert, who will open the course alongside a representative of the Council of Students of Catalan Universities (CEUCAT). The course, which combines theory and practice, will include both presentations and workshops. The first presentation, given by Pau Maza, CEUCAT coordinator, 2023-2025, will provide context for quality assurance within the framework of the European Higher Education Area.
This will be followed by a presentation focusing on quality assurance in higher education, addressing both assessment as a means of improving degree programmes and centres and data as an essential element in decision-making. The presentation will be given by AQU Catalunya project manager Albert Gili and Quality Assessment Area project coordinator Albert Basart. This will be followed by the round table Internal quality assurance systems (IQAS) and student involvement, moderated by the head of AQU Catalunya's Quality Assessment Area, Esther Huertas. Participants will include Antoni Ras, retired senior lecturer and former vice-rector for university policy at the UPC; Berta Roca, quality officer at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de Barcelona; and a student representative.
The workshops will take place in the afternoon. The first will focus on preparing the Student Report for the accreditation of centres and will be led by Martina Tolós, a student at the URV and member of AQU Catalunya's Student Committee. The second workshop, focusing on the assessment of higher education, will be delivered by Gili, Basart and Huertas, joined by Pol Maceira and Noèlia Grifo, project managers in AQU Catalunya's Quality Assessment Area. Before the end of the event, Gili will present the independent work required to complete the course. The full programme is available here.
Students attending the course who complete the work afterwards will receive a certificate —certifying 25 hours of work— which they can submit to their universities to apply for recognition of one credit if permitted by their centres' regulations. Registration is open until 2 November 2026, or until all places have been filled, via this link. The course, which will run from nine in the morning until six in the evening, will be held exclusively in person and will be taught in Catalan. AQU Catalunya will cover attendees' transport costs (within Catalonia) and meal expenses (meals during the event).
