AQU Catalunya's Student Advisory Committee holds its first meeting of 2024
Committee members discussed at the meeting the new VSMA Framework, which will be rolled out soon.

On 30 April, AQU Catalunya convened the Student Advisory Committee, which works to broaden and systematise student participation in AQU Catalunya's assessment activities and which advises the Agency on projects that have a direct impact on the student body. In this last meeting, the main topic was the new VSMA Framework, which aims to update the operation of the current framework, approved in 2016.
The VSMA Framework provides a structured and integrated vision of the main processes that the Agency must carry out in institutional and programme quality assurance. The Students Advisory Committee began a process of reflection regarding the aspects that could form part of the new VSMA Framework, which would be better adapted to the Agency's activities and to the regulatory changes that have taken place in this domain. In the same vein as the debates held at the Vice-Rectors Committee and the University QA Units Committee on the VSMA framework, the Student Advisory Committee members' point of view was collected on how to include institutional accreditation in the new framework, the possible dimensions to be incorporated in a cross-cutting manner in the methodologies, and the simplification of the assessment processes.
Apart from this issue, the committee members were also informed of the change in the secretariat, from the coordinator of the Quality Area, Albert Basart, to the Area's project manager, Albert Gili. The committee was scheduled to meet in 2024 to discuss updates to two methodologies: the student report for the accreditation of centres and degree programmes, and the teaching assessment methodology.
