AQU Catalunya updates the 'Programme Catalogue'
The document is a hierarchical classification system of university programmes according to their disciplinary proximity and includes bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, doctorates and higher artistic education programmes.
AQU Catalunya has updated the Programme Catalogue. The document, which is reviewed annually by the Agency to adapt it to the needs of stakeholders and to the evolving realities of the higher education system, has been revised on this occasion in the Business subfield. Specifically, the programmes have been reorganised and the labels clarified. The new version of the catalogue names the subfield “Business,” which was previously referred to as “Business Administration.” In addition, one programme within this subfield has also been renamed: “Business Sciences” is now called “Business and Management Sciences.”
The Business subfield contains the largest number of programmes, representing around 10 % of all programmes currently offered in the Catalan higher education system. The distribution of programmes across the different areas of this subfield was previously insufficiently uniform, which limited the usefulness of the catalogue; this has now been addressed. Programmes directly related to business management and administration are now included exclusively under ADE. In addition, the “Business and Management Sciences” teaching area now includes programmes linked to diverse and transversal aspects applied to the business world.
The Programme Catalogue, which has three previous editions —2016, 2020 and 2022—, is a hierarchical classification system of university degrees and higher education qualifications according to their disciplinary proximity, including bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, doctorates and higher artistic education programmes. The catalogue enables indicators to be obtained for each of the defined aggregation levels, allowing multi-level analyses that provide a basis for the design of policies or actions aimed at improving quality. The catalogue has four levels of programme grouping, from broadest to narrowest: field, expanded subfield, detailed subfield and programme.
