AQU presents “Degree programme profiles: Training objectives, graduation profile and learning outcomes”
AQU Catalunya creates the collection “FOCUS: Tools for university quality” aimed at those responsible for university degree programmes to support them in ensuring the quality of the degree courses they teach. The first issue of the series looks at “Degree programme profiles: Training objectives, graduation profile and learning outcomes”.

AQU Catalunya has published the first document in the “FOCUS: Tools for university quality” collection, which will compile documents designed to make university quality assurance easier for the parties involved in this task.
The first document in the collection is called “Degree programme profiles: Training objectives, graduation profile and learning outcomes” and consists of a practical manual designed for universities to implement new degree programmes focusing on the overall learning outcomes of the programme and the subjects that make up the curriculum. Thus, this first instalment of the series assists universities in meeting the growing interest in making higher education institutions accountable for their students' learning outcomes. That is, so that there is a balance in the correlation between the results expected by those pursuing a degree and their final achievement.
The publication of this document is a step further in the change towards learning outcomes, which opens up degree programme design to a better alignment of the curriculum and accountability in the teaching-learning process. Well-designed learning outcomes bring clarity to student performance expectations and increase student satisfaction. Learning outcomes are, today, the cornerstone that enables the curriculum to be structured in line with objectives, learning outcomes, teaching strategies, content and assessment in order to improve both the coherence of the curriculum and student learning, which is also known as curriculum alignment. Thanks to this document, it will be much easier for the universities and the responsible bodies to achieve this coherent and balanced degree programme implementation.
