Favourable report on the renewal of institutional accreditation for two centres of the Universitat Ramon Llull
Following an external review visit, AQU Catalunya has issued a favourable report for the accreditation of the Faculty of Economics and the School of Engineering, both part of the Institut Químic de Sarrià, which belongs to the Universitat Ramon Llull.
Among its functions, AQU Catalunya issues institutional accreditation reports for university centres in order to verify, through an external review visit, that they are fit to carry out their educational activities. Royal Decree 640/2021 of 27 July establishes the procedure for obtaining and renewing institutional accreditation. This is an evaluation process that provides greater autonomy in the quality assurance of the educational offer of university centres, based on having demonstrated the effectiveness of the processes implemented to ensure continuous improvement.
Before six years have elapsed since the initial accreditation was obtained, the centre must undergo an external review visit to confirm its proper functioning in accordance with the Guide to the institutional accreditation of university centres, approved in July 2021. Once the visit has been successfully completed, the Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) of AQU Catalunya issues a favourable report that enables the renewal of the centre’s accreditation.
During the evaluation, the external review panel analyses, among other aspects: the centre’s policies and strategy; the design, approval and delivery of study programmes; student admission, progression, recognition and certification; teaching staff; student-centred learning, teaching and assessment; learning resources and student support; the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and academic results; and public information on study programmes. All accredited centres in Catalonia must periodically undergo accreditation renewal before six years have passed since their last accreditation.
On the EUC Informes portal, you can find both the accreditation report and the external review report issued by AQU Catalunya:
AQU Catalunya submits accreditation reports to the Council of Universities, which is the body responsible for resolving the accreditation process. AQU Catalunya publishes the accreditation results and issues the accreditation seal and certificate for the corresponding centre, available on EUC Estudis, a web portal with comprehensive information on the quality of official university programmes in Catalonia.
