AQU Catalunya’s 2023 employment outcomes survey has provided relevant data on Catalan university graduates’ satisfaction with the jobs they hold. The graduates surveyed, numbering more than 20,000, rate their satisfaction with their job at 8 (scale of 0 to 10). Satisfaction varies according to the fields of knowledge and whether or not they carry out university-level functions at work.
In overall terms, Engineering graduates are the most satisfied (8.1) and Humanities graduates the least (7.7). As the data show, overall, the differences are small. If we analyse job satisfaction in relation to whether or not university-level functions are performed, we see that there are marked differences, especially among Humanities graduates (1.5 points). However, job satisfaction appears to be almost identical across knowledge fields for those performing university-level functions.
The data used in this report is the product of a survey sent successfully to more than 42,000 graduates in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 academic years. More than 52% of the contacted population responded to this year’s survey. More than 120,000 records have been generated over the eight editions of the employment outcomes survey. This figure positions Catalonia as one of the European regions with the most extensive, complete and representative databases for this type of analysis.
