Louise McNally, Jordi Ortín, Jordi Ribot, Olga Valverde, Mireia Valverde: new members of the Research Assessment Committee
AQU Catalunya's Governing Council appointed five new members to the Agency's Research Assessment Committee at its meeting last Thursday 15 April.

Dr Louise McNally we be replacing Dr Mary Nash on the Committee. Dr McNally is a linguist and finished her doctoral thesis in 1992 at the University of California. She is currently a professor at Pompeu Fabra University, where she also served as vice-rector for research, for faculty-related projects and for innovation projects. Her main lines of research are semantic theory, formal pragmatics, syntax, semantics, program interfaces, and computational semantics.
Dr Jordi Ortín will be replacing Dr Jordi García Ojalvo on the Committee. Dr Ortín is a physicist, which was the basis for his doctoral thesis, which he completed at the University of Barcelona in 1983. He is currently a full professor there, and has also directed its Department of the Structure and Constituents of Matter and the Department of Condensed Matter Physics. His main lines of research are hydrodynamic stability, complex fluids, fronts in disordered media, hysteresis and avalanches.
Dr Jordi Ribot will be replacing Dr Josep Ferrer on the Committee. Dr Ribot is a lawyer and completed his doctoral thesis at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1993. He has served as the University of Girona's vice-rector for teaching and research staff, and he is currently a full professor there. In addition, since 2019 he has directed the Institute of European and Comparative Private Law. His main lines of research are personal and family law, tort law and civil liability law.
Dr Olga Valverde will be replacing Dr Maria Teresa Anguera on the Committee. Dr Valverde holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Cádiz (1992) and a PhD in Pharmacy from the Université René Descartes (1996). She is currently a full professor at Pompeu Fabra University, where she served as its vice-rector for postgraduate and doctoral studies. She has directed this University's doctoral programme in Biomedicine since 2019. Her main lines of research are neurobiology, psychobiology, and addictive behaviours and addiction.
Dr Mireia Valverde will be replacing Dr Emili Grifell on the Committee. Dr Valverde is an economist specialising in human resource management. She began her doctoral studies at the Cranfield School of Management and completed her doctoral thesis in 2001 at Rovira i Virgili University, where she is currently a full professor. She has been a visiting professor at Cornell University (USA) and the University of Limerick (Ireland). She has been secretary and director of the department, as well as vice-president and president of ACEDE, the Spanish Academy of Economics and Business Management. Her main lines of research are human resources, organisational behaviour and service management.
