The session to present the cross-sectional assessment report on the university master's degree in Educational Psychology opened with a welcome from the president of AQU Catalunya, Francesc Xavier Grau. Dr Grau highlighted AQU Catalunya's track record in the preparation of cross-sectional reports, as a useful tool to fulfil a main function of the agency, the periodic publication of reports that describe and analyse the conclusions of the quality of its assessment activities and that serve to promote reflection and, if possible, proposals for improvement within the Catalan Higher Education System (SUC).
Next, Professor Eduardo García, coordinator of the working group that drew up the report, gave a presentation focused on emphasising the main conclusions that emerge from the analysis carried out and the possible future actions that could contribute to redirecting the areas of improvement indicated in the report.
These areas of improvement, as made clear in the report and especially in its conclusions, are technical and methodological, but also strategic for the SUC as a whole, and, therefore, challenge both academic and institutional managers of the Faculties that currently offer the master's degree and their teaching staff, as system-level authorities, such as AQU Catalunya and the ministries of the Generalitat with responsibilities in this master's degree in Educational Psychology training.
In the speaking and debate session, a commitment was reached by the attendees, to promote the creation of spaces for reflection and joint work in order to reposition Educational Psychology studies in Catalonia as a useful and necessary instrument for society, and guide the future of the master's degree with maximum quality assurance.
