Results of the latest meeting of the Institutional and Programme Review Commission
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) met online yesterday, Wednesday, 12 July. On the agenda was the approval of the guide for internal quality assurance system implementation certification in higher education institutions.
AQU Catalunya has shared the discussion points of the Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) meeting held online on Wednesday, 12 July. First on the agenda was to welcome two new members: María Concepción López Fernández, from the University of Cantabria and chair of the specific commission for doctoral programmes; and Marc Girona Badia, student at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The CAIP also bid farewell to outgoing member José António Sarsfield Cabral, from the Universidade do Porto.
Afterwards, the director of AQU Catalunya, Jaume Valls Pasola, discussed with those attending his report on the most current issues facing the Agency. The next item on the agenda involved informing CAIP members about the deployment of Royal Decree 822/2021, the organisation of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality. This was followed by a debate on the consistency of assessment processes.
Next, two important Agency tools were approved: the strategy to assess new degree proposals and degree modifications and the guide for internal quality assurance system implementation certification in higher education institutions. Subsequently, the green light was given to create a specific commission for institutional assessment. Finally, the members voted to approve the criteria for the accreditation of degree programmes in Medicine and the updating of the Catalan Higher Education Qualifications Framework.
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) ensures that the set of quality assurance instruments and processes carried out by AQU Catalunya at the institutional and programme level are applied correctly. The CAIP's work can be grouped into two main areas: the quality of education and the quality of institutions. In carrying out its functions, the CAIP works in specific commissions. It is chaired by the director of AQU Catalunya.
