Results report of third edition of Via Universitària study published
Via Universitària is a programme that aims to determine the profile of university students, study conditions and their satisfaction with the university and teaching.
The third edition of the Via Universitària study was carried out at a total of 20 universities in the Catalan-speaking Regions, promoted by the Vives Network of Universities and the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (technical management of the project), with the support of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of Andorra and the Valencian Assessment and Foresight Agency.
Assessing the social dimension of the university should allow us to assess the efficiency of access, funding, academic guidance, and teaching-learning policies to ensure that students have access to university studies, take advantage of the educational experience and qualify.
Some of the results closely linked to university quality are:
- Virtual university education acts as a second-chance device for profiles with more complex trajectories and lower social backgrounds.
- The COVID-19 pandemic has driven a change in teaching methodology in all areas. "Traditional" methodologies have gone from representing 60% to 50% of the total. In addition, more traditional teaching practices have lost value, while others such as the practicum, project/object design and continuous assessment have increased.
- In general, students value positively the response of universities to the emergency arising from the pandemic. However, satisfaction with the overall university experience has clearly decreased with respect to 2018, an aspect to be watchful for.
