AQU Catalunya presents the labour market outcomes of the Faculty of Letters at the Universitat de Girona to its students
At the presentation, the specific results of the Labour Market Insertion survey for this centre of the Universitat de Girona were shared with students.
AQU Catalunya has today presented to the fourth-year students of the Faculty of Letters at the University of Girona the labour market outcomes of its degree programmes. The Head of the Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation Area, Anna Prades, was responsible for outlining the specific results for this centre to its students and faculty. Specifically, she presented the labour market outcomes of the degrees in History, History of Art, Philosophy, Catalan Philology, Hispanic Philology, Geography, Territory and Environment, and Cultural Communication.
After explaining to those present what the AQU Catalunya Labour Market Insertion Survey is — which has been carried out since 2001 on a three-year cycle to accurately determine the employment and employability of graduates of the Catalan university system once they complete their studies — Prades began to detail the specific labour market data for the faculty, obtained from the responses to the Agency’s survey, to which 50 % of respondents — 22,900 people — replied.
The data presented indicate that in 2023 — the most recent year for which data are available — employment among graduates of the Faculty of Letters was 84.4 %, a figure that has steadily improved since 2011. The History of Art and Cultural Communication degrees at the UdG have the highest employment rates, at 93 % and 91 % respectively. These figures are also better than the averages for similar programmes across the rest of the Catalan university system.
In general, graduates of the Faculty of Letters at the UdG go on to work in education, culture and research, as this branch of activity accounts for up to 44 % of those who have completed their studies. It is also noteworthy that in the 2023 survey the number of graduates with permanent contracts exceeded those with temporary contracts. Specifically, this figure reached 47.9 % of the total, compared with only 29.5 % in 2019.
