The Institutional and Programme Review Commission holds its third meeting of 2025
The session was the first chaired by Mercè Gisbert, who has been Director of AQU Catalunya since October.
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) of AQU Catalunya held its third meeting of 2025 today. In the session, after the minutes of the previous meeting — held in July 2025 — were approved, the new Chair of the Commission was welcomed. By convention, this position is held by the person who directs the Agency, currently Mercè Gisbert, who assumed leadership in October.
After introductions, Gisbert presented her report to the Commission members. Detailing the status of the various evaluation processes carried out by the Agency, she reported on the rollout of the QUALINS Framework and explained the current state of the update to the teaching evaluation methodology, the reference frameworks in Medicine and Education, and Focus 4: double degrees.
The Chair’s report continued with changes to EUC Informes and a review of the forthcoming stages of the studies conducted by the Agency: employers, satisfaction, and graduate employability. Additional topics discussed included the start of preparations for the ENQA external evaluation, the SWOT analysis for the 2027‑2030 strategic plan that AQU Catalunya has initiated, the public consultation on the new ESG, and the events that will take place throughout 2026. Debate was also held on Royal Decree 905/2025 of 7 October, which amends regulations on the creation and accreditation of universities and higher education institutions; on the pilot methodology to evaluate the impact of institutional accreditation; and on the report of actions undertaken by the Commission on gender‑perspective matters for 2024‑2025. The session concluded with information on results from the forward‑looking analysis working group for the accreditation of university residences and the approval of the revision of the business administration sub‑domain in the catalogue of qualifications.
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission is the AQU Catalunya commission that ensures the proper application of quality assurance instruments and processes related to teaching and institutions. It operates through specific sub‑committees with functions that include evaluation of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and management of the university system, as well as evaluation, certification, auditing, and accreditation of the quality of universities, research centres and higher education institutions, in accordance with international standards.
