The process of designating the director of AQU Catalunya, laid down by Agreement of AQU's Governing Board
The director of AQU Catalunya is designated by the president of AQU Catalunya following an open and competitive process, at the proposal of the Governing Board and pursuant to the criteria laid down by this body, for a period of four years, which may be renewed once, in accordance with the principles of merit and ability and the criterion of eligibility in accordance with both Act 15/2015, prevailing legislation that deals with AQU Catalunya [ca], and the Agency's Statutes [ca].
The criteria governing the designation of the director of AQU Catalunya are laid down by Agreement of the Governing Board [ca], and are as follows:
- The selection committee shall consist of four members: the president of AQU Catalunya; one full professor, in representation of the Governing Board; one full professor, of recognised international standing; and the secretary to AQU Catalunya and the Governing Board, who is without voting rights.
- Public announcement shall be given of the call for candidatures, it is to be publicised on the AQU Catalunya website, notification shall be given to universities, and it shall contain: the description of the job position and its duties and responsibilities; the elibility requirements; the deadline for applications and final selection; the selection body; the procedure for the selection and award of the job position.
- There are four stages to the selection procedure: Stage 1: Verification of compliance with the eligibility requirements; Stage 2: The assessment of merits based on an accredited curriculum; Stage 3: Assessment of the candidate's proposed directorship with AQU Catalunya, and Stage 4: A face-to-face interview.
- The eligibility requirements are: candidates must be an active full professor at a university or in an equivalent position; they must have proven experience in research, teaching, university management and project management; they must have an in-depth knowledge of the university system in Catalonia; and fluency in written and spoken Catalan, Spanish and English.
The director of AQU Catalunya is Dr. Martí Casadesús, who was reappointed to the position [ca] for a second term until September 2021.
