VSM session
Meta-evaluation of the ex-ante assessment, monitoring and modification of recognised degree programmes
Date and place
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Hotel Campus, Edifici Blanc - Vila Universitària Campus de la UAB, 08193 Bellaterra, 6 March 2012. Around 200 people participated in the session.
Subject
With the publication of Royal decree 861/2010, 2 July, which amended Royal decree, 29 October, regarding the structure of the system of recognised academic degrees and qualifications, AQU Catalunya reacquired jurisdiction over the ex-ante assessment of proposals for recognised degrees and awards submitted by Catalan universities for accreditation. As a result, the Agency now has full powers over all review processes (ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation) of recognised degree programmes taught at Catalan universities.
In 2010 AQU Catalunya produced and disseminated the Framework for the ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation of recognised programmes and awards (VSMA Framework), the aim of which is to give a coherent structure to the four programme review and evaluation processes – ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation – that ensure that degrees are introduced and run efficiently; in 2011, with the VSMA Framework as reference, the Agency started the ex-ante assessment, monitoring and modification of programmes.
The session has a two-fold objective: on the one hand, to analyse the development and results of ex-ante assessment, monitoring and modification undertaken so far and, on the other, to consider aspects of the VSMA Framework that are still being developed, including accreditation and gathering the opinions of the stakeholders in the form of satisfaction surveys. The conclusions that are reached in the session will serve to improve and enhance all of the processes in the VSMA Framework.
In order to achieve the proposed objectives, AQU Catalunya considers it is important for everyone who is involved the Framework processes that are now underway to participate in the session. The following interest groups have therefore been invited:
- Vice-rectors (deputies to the Rector) for quality and degrees.
- Academic staff in charge of programmes.
- Members of the review panels.
- Heads of university quality units.
- Students.
