Associate professor profiles (2017-2019)
The “Associate professor profiles (2017-2019)” report analyses the CVs of those who obtained a favourable report during this period.
Between 2017 and 2019, AQU Catalunya assessed almost 1,500 applications for research accreditation. Of these, 889 CVs were analysed favourably in the six different fields of knowledge assessed by the Research Assessment Commission (CAR): Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, and Engineering and Architecture. The results of this process are summarised in the “Associate professor profiles (2017-2019)” report, which analyses 97.8% of the assessments carried out during these three years. The aim of the study is to provide an indicative view of the merits required to pass assessment.
In the report, a quantitative profile of merits is established for each field, mainly in terms of the publications (indexed articles, book chapters, communications in congresses and written and oral presentations in congresses, and publications by quartile), research projects (competitive projects in which they have been PI or in which they have participated) and training activity (supervision of doctoral theses) of associate professors who obtained a favourable report. The report also explains how the number of research assessments has evolved, as well as the evolution of the proportion of favourable assessments with respect to the CVs analysed.
The main purpose of the document is pedagogical, to provide guidance for persons who wish to apply for research accreditation. In no case does it replace the assessment criteria applied by the CAR, which can be consulted on the AQU Catalunya website. It should be emphasised that, in assessing teaching staff, quality is more important than purely quantitative indicators.
