Qualitative analysis
The qualitative stage of the employers project involves the analysis of the focus groups and the sector-specific interviews with employers and professionals. A total number of ten focus groups were conducted, in which more than 60 employers took part.
Ten reports on the analysis of the different focus groups have been produced for the faculties concerned that contain evidence of the labour market demand for the profile of their graduates.
An overview report titled The Employers Survey: a qualitative analysis [Catalan] has also been produced, which contains a series of general and comparative conclusions for the branches of activity covered, using the information from the focus groups and interviews. The ultimate objective is firstly to document the opinions of employers of the education received by graduates and the ties between business and university; and, secondly, to identify aspects for use by relevant actors in Catalan universities to enhance graduate employability.
This research offers a more in-depth analysis of the findings of the quantitative analysis of the Employers Survey and provides programmes with specific information on the skills and knowledge that are most highly valued in the labour market.
The methodology used and the fieldwork were developed and carried out by QUIT (Sociological Research Centre for Sociological Studies on Everyday Life and Work, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona's Department of Sociology) and AQU Catalunya. The project team consisted of Oriol Barranco, Joan Miquel Verd, Oriol Alonso, Anna Prades, Carme Edo and Queralt Capsada.
