AQU Catalunya Opens the Second 2026 Call for the Evaluation of Research Merits
The call, which introduces new measures concerning the reconciliation of applicants’ personal, family and working lives, will remain open from 22 June to 10 July.
AQU Catalunya has opened today the second 2026 call for the evaluation of research merits, which will remain open until 10 July. Applications for the evaluation of these merits (also known as six-year research assessment periods, or sexenios) may be submitted by civil servant academic staff at public universities, academic staff at private universities and affiliated centres, permanent doctoral research staff at Catalan public universities, Ramón y Cajal and Beatriz Galindo researchers at Catalan public universities, Tenure-Track faculty at the Pompeu Fabra University, and distinguished research staff at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
As in previous calls, applicants may request either the evaluation of their research merits or the recognition of research merits previously assessed by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) and by AQU Catalunya. This applies, for example, to teaching and research staff from private universities who move to a public university.
This call introduces a new feature linked to the agreement adopted by the Research Evaluation Committee in December 2025 regarding measures to guarantee equality and work-life balance in the evaluation of teaching and research staff. Under this agreement, applicants who meet the established requirements must submit four research contributions and may optionally include two substitute contributions. To benefit from these measures, applicants simply need to tick the relevant box on the application form and provide the documentation required to demonstrate that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants may complete their abbreviated curriculum vitae automatically using the information available in the Catalan Research Portal. Faculty members are therefore encouraged to update the information contained in the portal before starting their application.
