Today AQU Catalunya launches the new single-call procedure to accredit research and advanced research for teaching staff
From today, the Agency will issue research and advanced research accreditations through a single call, which will run annually.
Today AQU Catalunya is launching a new method of issuing accreditation for research and advanced research for university teaching staff. The new method offers teachers a single call that will be open permanently all year. This new system replaces the previous one, which consisted of two three-week annual calls to submit applications. Following a majority request from the Catalan Higher Education System to the Agency, this change provides more flexibility for teaching staff to obtain accreditation and for universities to plan their recruitment processes. In addition, it will allow AQU Catalunya to reduce response times.
When using this new modality, please note that, although the call is permanently open, applicants will not be able to submit a new application for accreditation as long as they have an open application. In other words, they will not be able to start a new request until AQU Catalunya has notified them that the previous request has been resolved. In addition, applicants cannot apply simultaneously in both research and advanced research categories.
In terms of how this new system works, it is also important to know that if accreditation of research is denied, a new application for accreditation of research or accreditation of advanced research can only be made at least a year after the initial application has been made. If accreditation of advanced research is denied, the applicant may submit a new application for accreditation of research. If the applicant wishes to submit a new application for accreditation of advanced research, one year must elapse from the date of submission of the first application.
The IT platform that is used in the new formula for accrediting research and advanced research has successfully passed the test that was carried out in the second calls for applications for the teaching evaluation in 2023. The Agency has made this change once it has had the resources available to design, develop and implement the organisational and technological adjustments necessary to modify the previous application submission regime. Finally, it should be noted that this change does not affect the six-year calls, which continue with the regime of two calls per year.
New applications can be submitted here, if they are for research, and here, if they are for advanced research.
