AQU Catalunya launches a public consultation of all parties interested in the Accreditation Standards and Criteria for Higher Education Institutions
AQU Catalunya has produced a methodological reference document on Accreditation Standards and Criteria for Higher Education Institutions. The document establishes the aspects that accreditation for faculties and schools will consist of, their level and the criteria used for evaluating achievement and compliance. The standards and criteria are fully aligned with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), which have been adapted to the context of Catalonia and institutional accreditation.
A standard is set for each dimension that faculties and schools must fulfil and this in turn is broken down into different component parts, with the criteria for use in assessment being grouped according to broad subject areas. One new development identified in the document is the risks to quality in the case of non-compliance with the standards.
The purpose of the document and the accompanying procedure is to consolidate institutional accreditation in Catalonia and make evident that the quality assurance of academic provision is the responsibility of the faculty or school itself.
AQU Catalunya invites comments from individuals interested in contributing to the improvement of the document and providing their point of view. One can participate in three different ways:
- By answering a brief questionnaire where, in addition to an appraisal, you can contribute enhancement proposals. The link to the questionnaire, which has to be completed in one sitting, is as follows:
- Download the file in MS-Word format, where you can add comments and make changes (preferably with track changes and/or by choosing a different colour). Your amended document should then be sent to: consultapublica@aqu.cat
- The amended document with your comments and suggestions should then be sent by e.mail to consultapublica@aqu.cat, with "Institutional accreditation " as the e.mail subject matter.
Any comments and suggestions should be sent prior to 17 May 2020.
