AQU Catalunya presents the 2023 meta-evaluation report
In this document, the Agency provides details about the structural changes that had an impact last year, the activities undertaken and the total budget spent, together with other information.
AQU Catalunya has already published its 2023 meta-evaluation report, which lists the internal and external factors that affected the Agency over the course of the past year. The document, which has been published yearly since 2020, aims to provide an account of the most relevant aspects of the Agency's internal functioning, and report to the Agency's Governing Board.
In the section on new developments and changes, the appointments of Dr Maria Pau Ginebra as chair of the Research Assessment Commission and Dr Neus Vidal as chair of the AQU Catalunya Appeals Commission are noteworthy. At a regulatory level, the most relevant changes that affected AQU Catalunya in 2023 were the approval of Organic Law 2/2023, of 22 March, on the Higher Education System; and the approval of State Law 2/2023, of 20 February, regulating the protection of people who report regulatory violations and the fight against corruption, which led to the establishment of an alert system in AQU Catalunya.
AQU Catalunya had a budget of six million euros last year. This amount represented an increase of 6% with respect to 2022. In terms of administrative contracting, the Agency carried out 132 minor and 23 non-minor contracts. Half of the latter were for general services, and a third for IT services.
The workforce for 2023 remained the same as for 2022, with 59 posts, some of which are still vacant. In 2023, fifty-seven people logged a total of 79,243 hours on the AQU Catalunya time registration platform, 6% less than in 2022, a decrease that can be explained mainly by long-term temporary sick leave.
With reference to projects, in 2023 the Agency opened 15 more projects than in 2022 - for a total of 38 - and completed 3 more - for a total of 30 -. In addition, 11 more active projects were worked on than in the previous year - totalling 77 In relation to the Internal Quality and Information Security Assurance System, AQU Catalunya kept its information quality and information security management system certification with the ISO 9001 and 27001 standards. In 2023, a total of 107 improvement initiatives were launched as a result of the different review points that have been implemented within AQU Catalunya's quality and information security management system, 4% fewer than in the previous year.
