ShareAQU Catalunya updates the guide and the verification and modification procedure for Bachelor's and Master's degrees
AQU Catalunya has updated part of the content of its validation guide to adapt it to new legislative developments, inter alia, with a view to updating the procedures for the validation and modification of new Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. In addition, the assessment procedure has been updated so that it follows the same structure as the other assessment procedures coordinated by the Agency.
The Guide to the design, validation and modification of recognised Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes was modified in November 2023, at the last meeting of the Commission for Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP), to adapt it to the new legal requirements and also to the Focus documents that the Agency publishes to support those responsible for university degrees in the quality assurance of the studies they offer. Some of the most important new features included in the renewed guide are, firstly, the adaptation of some existing legislative references in the Organic Law 6/2001 on Universities -which is no longer in force-, which are now included in the Organic Law 2/2023 on the Higher Education System.
Secondly, the Focus documents are introduced as reference documents to be kept in mind when drawing up new proposals for verification and modification.
Thirdly and fourthly, changes are related to modifications related to the criteria in the section on Modifications to curricula. On one hand, the new guide states that changes in new places, whatever their scope, must be made effective through a process of substantial modification. On the other hand, the new document states that the incorporation or suppression of the procedure for conditional enrolment for access to the Master's degree - which is given in application of article 18.4 of Royal Decree 822/2021 - can be introduced through a non-substantial modification.
The Guide is accompanied by an update of the Official university degree validation and modification procedure, which is redefined and standardised with the rest of the degree and centre assessment processes.
