Changes to the assessment criteria for tenure-eligible lecturers in Nursing and Physiotherapy
The Research Assessment Commission has modified the assessment criteria for issuing reports for tenure-eligible lecturers in the particular field of Nursing and Physiotherapy to give greater relevance to professional merits. These criteria take effect from the second call 2022.
The Specific Commission for Medical and Health Sciences of the Research Assessment Commission (CAR) has changed the public criteria for issuing reports for tenure-eligible lecturers in the fields of Nursing and Physiotherapy, which have the status of particular field.
The main change is the incorporation of a new section in the particular field of Nursing/Physiotherapy in drafting the assessment criteria applied by the Specific Commission for Medical and Health Sciences. The criteria are modified as follows:
| Previous weighting | New weighting for Nursing/Physiotherapy |
a) Research experience | 65 | 55 |
Scientific articles | 54 | 44 |
Other publications and conferences | 3 | 3 |
Projects and direction of research activities | 4 | 4 |
Other merits | 4 | 4 |
b) Academic background | 20 | 30 |
Predoctoral and doctoral | 7 | 7 |
Postdoctoral | 9 | 9 |
Professional merits | 4 | 14 |
c) Teaching experience | 15 | 15 |
In the case of academic training, the weighting of professional merits increases from 4 to 14 points. In doing this, the Committee has given greater prominence to the professional merits on CVs.
The Research Assessment Committee has established the concept of “particular field” in order to permit certain areas of knowledge, in which the corresponding groups are thought to find it difficult to reach the minimum thresholds normally considered necessary to pass the different assessments and obtain the corresponding accreditation, may be dealt with in a specific manner for a limited period of time. Particular fields are established for a short and limited period of time, normally three years, renewable thereafter, and its impact on the number of accredited persons is continuously monitored by the CAR secretariat.
Finally, it should be noted that the purpose of the Agency’s reports on tenure-eligible lecturers is to accredit whether applicants meet a minimum quality and experience threshold in research activities that, among other functions, allows them to apply for competitive examinations in the universities of the Catalan university system.
This change will come into effect for the next application period for tenure-eligible lecturers. Specifically, during the second period of application for the preliminary tenure-eligible lecturer reports, which will be open from 19 September to 14 October 2022, inclusive.
