The webinar "Employability and university education in the field of Industrial Technology" was broadcast online, via YouTube, on 12 May 2023, and has already been viewed 144 times. The webinar offered a space for reflection on the employability of people who have graduated from degrees in the subfields of Naval Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronic and Automatic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design, Chemical and Materials Engineering, and Industrial Engineering and Organisation, and the round table identified a set of diagnoses and made proposals for improvement based on the information presented.
Some of the conclusions drawn include:
- Recent graduates should improve effective communication with people without technical training; ability to apply knowledge and solve problems in new and unfamiliar environments; ability to plan, map out, calculate, design and execute technical actions in a given field of specialisation; and making judgements based on incomplete or limited information.
- The work environment demands a high level of English, and although universities provide students with educational tools to help with this, this aspect can limit one's opportunities.
- Graduates have relatively low satisfaction with the possibility of applying the knowledge acquired during the degree course to the internship period.
