Ecuador’s Higher Education Quality Assurance Council Visits AQU Catalunya
The purpose of the two-day visit to the Agency was to participate in technical workshops on topics such as the QUALINS Framework and the specific regulation of health-related degree programmes.
Ecuador’s Higher Education Quality Assurance Council (CACES) visited AQU Catalunya this Wednesday and Thursday. A two-person delegation from the Ecuadorian agency came to the Agency’s headquarters to receive technical training in university quality assurance based on AQU Catalunya’s experience. During their two-day visit, the delegates participated in a range of activities specially organised by the Agency.
On Wednesday, the Ecuadorian delegation was welcomed by the Agency’s Director, Mercè Gisbert, and the Head of the Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation Area, Anna Prades. This was followed by a workshop on quality assessment processes led by the Head of the Quality Assessment Area, Esther Huertas, and Technical Advisor Josep Manel Torres, focusing on the QUALINS Framework, institutional accreditation, regulations, and European standards and guidelines (ESG). The final activity of the day was a session led by Quality Assessment Area specialists Albert Basart and Noèlia Grifo, centred on programme verification and accreditation.
On Thursday, specialists from the Quality Assessment Area delivered a technical session focused on centre accreditation visit procedures. Afterwards, members of the same area offered the delegation a session on the specific regulation of health-related degree programmes, with a special emphasis on the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) standards. To conclude their visit to AQU Catalunya, the Ecuadorian delegation gave a presentation on the Higher Education Quality Assurance Council of Ecuador (CACES) to AQU Catalunya staff. The CACES members then continued their visit to learn about the Catalan university system with a one-day stay at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
