Guatemala’s CONNEXX-EU Project Delegation visits AQU Catalunya
After meeting with the Director of the Agency, the visitors attended a presentation on the quality assessment processes and standards in the European higher education context.
Two representatives from the Guatemalan Galileo University, participating in the CONNEXX-EU project, visited AQU Catalunya’s headquarters this Monday. The purpose of the visit was to gain first-hand insight into the quality assessment processes and standards in European higher education through the Agency. The visitors showed interest in understanding the European approach to quality and educational standards, as well as the specific aspects evaluated in assessment processes. In particular, the Guatemalan representatives wanted to learn about the tools used internally by Catalan universities and how to implement these mechanisms in practice.
The Director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert, welcomed the visitors from Guatemala, who then met with the Coordinator of the Quality Assessment Area, Albert Basart, and the Project Manager of the same area, Esther Adot. Together, they gave a presentation focused on all the quality-related questions the visitors had raised and addressed their doubts in this field. The meeting, which lasted an hour and a half, provided the visitors with a general overview of how AQU Catalunya evaluates quality in universities, which they can, in turn, share with the Guatemalan institutions participating in CONNEXX-EU.
The CONNEXX-EU project, funded by the European Union Delegation in Guatemala, aims to promote the participation of Guatemalan institutions in European programmes such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, as well as to foster academic and research cooperation with European institutions. Between 8 and 21 November, the international Connect Europe tour has been organized, visiting Belgium, France, and Spain. The visitors to AQU Catalunya were Rene De León, Dean of the Faculty of Administration at Universidad Galileo, and Luis Arboleda, Vice-Dean of the same faculty.
