Over 400 People Register for the REMOTE Project Webinar on the Challenges of Online Assessment
The session, conducted entirely in English, focused on presenting the guidelines developed within the project and offered recommendations for improving online and hybrid degree programmes.
Yesterday, AQU Catalunya held the webinar Challenges of Online Assessment in Higher Education: Experiences and Guidelines for Improvement, which addressed the challenges of online student assessment in higher education for over 400 registered participants. The session focused on presenting the guidelines and framework developed within the REMOTE project and also provided recommendations for improvement to universities and quality assessment agencies. Representing AQU Catalunya, Noèlia Grifo, a specialist in the Quality Assessment Area, participated in the roundtable, while Anna Prades, Head of the Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation Area, concluded the session with her remarks.
The seminar takes place in a context where online teaching and learning have become a well-established reality in higher education. This presents new challenges regarding student assessment, and for this reason, the webinar aimed to provide a space for reflection and discussion on how to ensure the quality and integrity of assessments conducted in digital environments.
In addition to AQU Catalunya, the session included participation from two other external quality assurance agencies: Italy’s ANVUR and Portugal’s A3ES. The three agencies jointly developed guidelines on online assessment in higher education, offering practical recommendations for both universities and quality assurance agencies. Over the course of an hour, the speakers presented the main findings and recommendations of the guidelines. Two additional documents were also presented: the first, led by AQU Catalunya, integrates and aligns the research conducted within the project on the current state of online learning activity assessment; the second is a reference framework led by A3ES.
This seminar stems from the REMOTE project. Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the project operates within the framework of higher education cooperation partnerships. Launched in 2023, it is led by the Universitat de Girona (UdG) and involves AQU Catalunya along with five other partners: the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC); the Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo), in Italy; the Universidade do Minho (UMinho), in Portugal; the Agenzia Nazionale di Valutazione del Sistema Universitario e della Ricerca (ANVUR), in Italy, and l’Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior (A3ES), in Portugal.
