AQU Catalunya has opened the call for applications today for the assessment of research merits of contracted PDI at public universities, as well as for the recognition of merits previously assessed by the Research Assessment Commission (CAR) or by the National Commission for the Assessment of Research Activity (CNEAI). Teaching and research staff hired at Catalan public universities in any of the following teaching categories can apply to the call: full professor, associate professor, permanent contract lecturer who are Phd/doctoral degree holders and tenure-eligible lecturer.
As of this year, the minimum score required to pass the AQU Catalunya research activity assessment process will be 6 points on average, bringing this score into line with the ANECA-CNEAI research assessment procedure. This change was approved by the CAR in July 2022.
In addition, this call incorporates the new approved assessment criteria, which are detailed below. Firstly, the type of contributions that applicants can submit for assessment has been broadened, thereby recognising a greater diversity of research profiles and careers in a context that favours multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity. Secondly, progress is being made towards a more qualitative assessment supported by a responsible use of quantitative indicators. Therefore, applicants will have to submit a narrative justification of the evidence of relevance in the application and impact of each contribution.
Among the innovations approved by the CAR, there was also the desire to promote open scientific contribution and open science to society and the need to use institutional repositories as a form of access to documentation, to guarantee the agility of evaluation procedures. Since 2017, the Agency has already offered applicants the possibility of including their contributions from the Open Data Catalogue of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Finally, the creation of a new taxonomy of metrics has been put forward that respond to the need to accredit the scientific impact of the contribution, as well as the impact of the contributions on the generation of social impact, as evidenced, for example, through contributions to the design and implementation of public policies, development of solutions to social problems, etc.
Those interested can watch a video tutorial on how to submit the application and the summary curriculum vitae. For all those who have ORCID, the automated uploading system for contributions is still available, that is, if they are available on the Catalan Research Portal.
