The Governing Board of AQU Catalunya holds its final meeting of the year
During the session, the Agency’s highest governing body also discussed the new activity for the evaluation of the performance of tenure-eligible lecturers.
The Governing Board of AQU Catalunya met yesterday, 11 December, at Pompeu Fabra University in order to approve, among other matters, the appointment of three new members to the Research Assessment Commission (CAR) and one new member to the Appeals Commission (COAPEL). The appointments will come into effect on 1 January 2026. The session began with the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting of the Governing Board and continued with the report presented by the President of AQU Catalunya, Francesc Xavier Grau Vidal. This was followed by the presentation of the report by the Director of the Agency and Chair of the Institutional and Programme Evaluation Commission, Mercè Gisbert Cervera, to the members of the Board.
The members of the governing body were then informed about the evaluation of the performance of tenure-eligible lecturers, a matter which they were able to discuss. This activity has been designed for universities that wish to commission the Agency to carry out an indicative evaluation of the performance of tenure-eligible lecturers after three years from the start of their contract. AQU Catalunya plans to begin this activity in April 2026. At the end of the session, the members were informed about, and also discussed, the reports drawn up on the basis of the satisfaction survey of bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates.
This meeting of the Governing Board also served to address the modification of AQU Catalunya’s staff structure and the Agency’s public employment offer for 2026. Both proposals were approved. The approval of the appointment of new members to the CAR and the COAPEL were the final items on the agenda before moving on to procedural matters. The three procedural matters included in the Governing Board session—the 25th to be held since the approval of the AQU Catalunya Act in 2015—were the ratification of the agreements signed between July and November 2025; the ratification of the multiannual expenditure contracted between July and November 2025; and the approval of the quality and information security policy.
