AQU Catalunya opens a public consultation on the new criteria for the accreditation of associate and full professors
Between September 23 and October 7, interested parties will be able to make contributions to the proposal for new accreditation criteria for associate and full professor roles published by the Agency.
Today, AQU Catalunya opened the period of public consultation regarding the proposal for new accreditation criteria for associate professors and full professors, which needed to be updated following the entry into force of Organic Law 2/2023 of the University System (LOSU). The consultation, which will last until October 7 (inclusive), will allow the comments of all interested parties to be collected to ensure that the final accreditation criteria are best suited to the particular needs of the Catalan Higher Education System, and at the same time are a good fit with the diverse reality of each field of knowledge.
The novelties included in the new accreditation criteria for associate professors and full professors constitute an approach that brings together various perspectives and reflections. AQU Catalunya's 20 years of experience in the field of assessment and its knowledge of the scientific and academic reality of the Agency's university teaching staff are in addition to the observations gathered within the framework of a number of ad hoc consultations during the renewal process. Specifically, the Research Assessment Commission has received contributions from the University Teaching Policy Committee of the Inter-University Council of Catalonia, from the Academic Staff Committee of the Inter-University Council of Catalonia, from the trade union organisations represented on the AQU Catalunya Governing Board (CCOO and UGT) and from the AQU Catalunya Governing Board.
The proposal for new criteria made by AQU Catalunya incorporates as novelties the evaluation of the teaching activity of the teaching staff and also the professional one. In addition, the criteria and the contributions evaluated, and their typology are expanded, made more plural, and contextualised in relation to each field of knowledge. It also introduces elements of qualitative assessment for teaching skills, and where appropriate, of knowledge transfer. Finally, the Research Assessment explicitly recognises local relevance, linguistic pluralism, open access to data and scientific publications, and interdisciplinarity.
The contributions obtained during the participatory process will be used to finalise the review of the proposed criteria with a view to activating the new accreditations in 2025.
You can take part in the consultation by using this form which AQU Catalunya has created specifically to facilitate the participation of all those who are interested in the Catalan Higher Education System. You will find all the information about this public consultation and how to participate here.
