AQU Catalunya participates in the seminar for members of the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education in Malta
Núria Mancho Fora, data analyst at the Agency, presented the paper 'Application of a supervised AI algorithm in higher education quality assessment: results and implications'.

AQU Catalunya participated this week in the seminar for members of the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education (ECA), which was held in Malta. Núria Mancho Fora, data analyst in the Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation department of the Agency, presented the paper Application of supervised AI algorithm in higher education quality assessment: results and implications, which explores the potential and shortcomings of artificial intelligence in the field of higher education quality assessment. The presentation by the AQU Catalunya representative specifically analyses the feasibility of using AI algorithms to predict the risks arising from the wide variety of indicators available for quality assessment in higher education, which can lead to an overload of key performance indicators and end up hindering organisational progress.
The seminar, organised by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), also included the presentation entitled, The Silent Takeover: AI's Dramatic Role in Redefining Academic Norms, which was given by Professor Alexei Dingli, from the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta. The event also featured a meeting for working groups and, finally, a general assembly among the ECA members present.
