AQU Catalunya publishes the results of research and advanced research assessment commission for the last five years
The Agency has published on the website the statistical data relating to the research assessment commission of associate and full professors between 2019 and 2023.

On its website, AQU Catalunya has made public the statistical data relating to the profiles of the associate and full professors whose research and advanced research work it assessed between 2019 and 2023. Although the Agency is currently adapting its assessment criteria to comply with the requirements of the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU) of 22 March 2023, in the period on which the results published by AQU Catalunya are focused, the criteria that were in force during that five-year period have been applied. The results relating to both associate and full professors have been published on the web in the form of dynamic infographics to facilitate understanding.
With regard to the associate professors who applied for research accreditation with AQU Catalunya between 2019 and 2023, 90% were from Catalonia, 4% were from the rest of Spain and 6% were from abroad. Most of the applicants came from the fields of the Social Sciences (800) and Medical and Health Sciences (695). Life Sciences was the area that attracted the lowest number of applications (277).
Of the 2,932 research assessment requests received in all during the aforementioned five-year period, 46% were from women and 54% from men. For both men and women, the average age was 43. Sixty-seven percent of the reports issued by AQU Catalunya were favourable, 33% unfavourable. In 93% of the cases, the professors who submitted applications obtained a favourable research report at the first attempt, and 7% at the second attempt. 66% of female applicants and 68% of male applicants were successful in their applications.
Advanced research
With regard to the professors who requested an advanced research assessment report from AQU Catalunya between 2019 and 2023, 80% were from Catalonia, 2% were from the rest of Spain and 18% were from abroad. The 1,617 applications received for this five-year period came primarily from the fields of the Social Sciences (423), and Engineering and Architecture (344). Life Sciences was the area that received the lowest number of applications (143).
Of the evaluation applications received between 2019 and 2023, 36% were from women and 64% from men. In the case of both men and women, the average age at which a report was requested was 49. Of the reports issued by AQU Catalunya, 62% were favourable and 38% were unfavourable. In 90.91% of the cases, the professors who applied for a research report obtained a favourable report at the first attempt, in 8.08% at the second attempt, and in 1.01% at the third attempt. 62% of female applicants and 62% of male applicants received favourable judgements on their applications.
