Andreu Casero, new member of the Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee
Andreu Casero joined the Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee on 1 December 2021.

The Standing Committee of the Governing Council of AQU Catalunya, at the proposal of the President of the Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee, has appointed Dr Andreu Casero member of that same committee, replacing the current director of AQU Catalunya, Dr Jaume Valls. The term of office is four years, renewable once.
Dr Casero received a PhD in Journalism from Pompeu Fabra University in 2004. He is currently dean and professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Universitat Jaume I in Castellón. He has won a number of awards in the course of his career, including the University Research Award of the Catalan Regional Press Association (2011) and the Award for Research in new business models for local journalism companies from the Association of Information and Communication Media (AMIC) and the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats (2018).
He has been a full member of the Philosophy and Arts Section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans since 2016; member of the board of directors of the Spanish Association for Communication Research since 2017; and vice president of the Spanish Society of Journalism since 2018.
With regard to his experience in assessment, Dr Casero highlights his participation as a member assessing teaching staff and degree programmes at AQU Catalunya since 2016 and as a member of the Andalusian Knowledge Agency (2018). Internationally, he has taken part in assessments at the Flanders Research Foundation (2013) and the Israel Science Foundation (2016).
