In 2019 AQU Catalunya resolved 191 appeals filed against rulings concerning teaching and research staff accreditation.
In 2019, AQU Catalunya's Appeals Committee received three claims concerning programme assessment. In two of these cases, favourable review reports were issued that were contrary to negative verifications by the Council of Universities, thereby ratifying previous favourable assessments by an AQU Catalunya specific committee. It dismissed one appeal that was filed for the requalification of "accreditation" as "accreditation with excellence".
In relation to teaching staff accreditation procedures, a total of 191 appeals were filed before the Appeals Committee in relation to the various calls for applications in 2019. This accounted for 22% of all of the unfavourable assessments and an increase of 18% compared to the number of appeals filed in 2018.

According to subject areas, the number of appeals filed as a percentage of the total ranged from 49% of all appeals in Social Sciences compared to just 4% in Experimental Sciences.
As for the judicial review of appeals, four appeals were filed in 2019, of which one was dismissed, with three still pending a ruling.
