Registration Now Open for the Presentation Event of the Ninth Edition of AQU Catalunya’s Graduate Employment Survey
The study, one of the most representative and relevant of its kind in Europe, analyses the quality of employment of graduates from the Catalan university system three years after completing their studies.
AQU Catalunya has opened registration today for the event Graduate Employment 2026: Trends, Results and Challenges for the Catalan University System, which will present the results of the ninth edition of AQU Catalunya’s Graduate Employment Survey. The study, one of the most representative and significant of its kind in Europe, analyses the quality of labour market outcomes for students from the Catalan university system three years after completing bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Among the new features of this edition is the presentation, for the first time, of specific results relating to graduates of double-degree bachelor’s programmes. In addition, the survey will, for the first time, present differences in labour market outcomes among master’s graduates according to the mode of study followed (online or face-to-face). The event will also present findings on the emotional well-being of doctoral graduates during their studies and on their employment outside academia, a topic included in the study for the first time.
Programme and institutional representatives
The event will take place on 15 July at the Ciutadella Campus of Pompeu Fabra University and may be attended either in person (subject to limited capacity) or online. Proceedings will begin at 11:30 a.m. with opening remarks by a representative of the Department of Research and Universities, to be confirmed; the Rector of Pompeu Fabra University, Laia de Nadal Clanchet; the President of the Social Council of the University of Lleida, Carmina Chia Forradellas; and the President of AQU Catalunya, Francesc Xavier Grau Vidal.
The results of the 2026 Graduate Employment Survey will then be presented. This part of the event will be introduced by the Director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert Cervera, and delivered by the Head of the Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation Area at AQU Catalunya, Anna Prades Nebot. The event will conclude with a round-table discussion chaired by the Rector of Pompeu Fabra University, Laia de Nadal Clanchet, featuring Teresa Garcia-Milà, President of the Cercle d’Economia; Francesc Castellana Aregall, Director of the Catalan Employment Service; and Pep Garcia Garcia, President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in Vallès Oriental.
A study of significant value
The survey is highly representative thanks to its high participation rate—around 50% of the target population—and has a long-standing history dating back to 2001. Since then, it has surveyed graduates from the Catalan university system three years after completing their studies in order to assess the quality of their employment situation. Over the years, the study has provided valuable insights into the evolution and trends of the labour market, as well as helping to identify structural changes.
The study is coordinated by AQU Catalunya and is supported by the social councils of Catalonia’s public universities, private universities, and the Department of Education and Vocational Training with regard to institutions offering higher artistic education programmes. It is currently recognised as an official survey of the Government of Catalonia, and the data collected are used in the evaluation processes of Catalan degree programmes and higher education institutions. The results are also published on the EUC Portal, a tool that provides information on the quality of the Catalan university system.
