Slovenia’s university quality agency visits AQU Catalunya
Three members from NAKVIS’ analytics, international cooperation, and IT departments spend two days alongside several members of the Agency.

Slovenia’s university quality agency, NAKVIS (according to its Slovenian acronym), has begun a two-day working visit to AQU Catalunya today. Early in the day, the Director of the Agency, Jaume Valls Pasola, welcomed the Slovenian delegation, which consists of three members working in the analytics, international cooperation, and information technology departments.
The reasons behind NAKVIS members’ request to visit AQU Catalunya include their interest in gaining deeper insight into the structure and internal organization of the Catalan agency’s IT department, obtaining an overview of its data registries and databases, learning about the types of data used for analysis and report generation, and understanding the IT support provided for accreditation procedures. In this regard, they aimed to closely examine the IT solutions implemented—from the submission of applications to the work of expert panels and the subsequent decision-making process.
The information systems used by AQU Catalunya for evaluating degree programs and institutions, as well as its data integrations with official sources, are also among the Slovenian agency’s areas of interest. Getting hands-on knowledge of the systems and tools currently in use has also been highly relevant for the three NAKVIS members. Furthermore, AQU Catalunya’s engagement with the potential of artificial intelligence and the exploration of future cooperation opportunities were also key goals of the visit.
In addition to AQU Catalunya’s IT Department, led by David Gassiot Andreu, members from other departments of the Agency also took part in welcoming the Slovenian delegation. The relationship between AQU Catalunya and NAKVIS, which has taken shape through this visit, was initially forged in the context of the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), in which both agencies collaborate.
