Amendment of the advanced research accreditation criteria for the subject-specific committee dealing with Humanities
AQU's Research Assessment Committee has approved the amendment of the criteria for use by the subject-specific committee dealing with Humanities for the issuance of accreditation for advanced research, which will be introduced in the first call for applications in 2021.
The amended criteria aim to ensure unequivocal academic maturity and apt demonstration of leadership, innovation and scientific internationalisation by candidates.
The main amendments are:
- More specific levels of classification for contributions: Scientific contributions in the form of books and chapter in books are classified according to three levels (A, B, C) in line with repertoires of academic publishers, such as Scholarly Publishers Indicators (SPI). Articles are classified according to three levels (A, B, C), which are indicative of certain quartiles of journals in which they are published and indexed according to international reference citation databases, such as Web of Science and SCOPUS.
- A slight change in the weighting of each dimension, as follows: an increase in the weighting of “teaching and learning activities” from 7.5% to 15%; a slight decrease in the weighting of "journals and publications" from 70% to 65% and a reduction of 2.5 percentage points in “other merits”. An equal weighting for the two complementary dimensions (Projects, and Teaching and Learning Activities) of 15% enables one new requirement to be added. The purpose of this is to balance the profile of merits, which establishes that, in order to obtain a favourable accreditation report, a score of 5 or higher is required for “Publications and the transfer of research findings”, together with one of either “Projects” or “Teaching and Learning Activities”. People who meet the threshold level will thereby have a more balanced profile of merits.
Dimension | Former weighting | Former weighting |
---|---|---|
Journals and publication, and the transfer of research findings | 70% | 65% |
Projects | 15% | 15% |
Teaching and learning activities | 7.5% | 15% |
Other merits | 7.5% | 5% |
