Registration is now open for a student training day on university quality assurance in Girona
The training, which has limited places and can be validated for academic credits, will take place at the University of Girona on Saturday, 5 April.
AQU Catalunya, the University of Girona (UdG) and the Catalan University Student Council (CEUCAT) have organised a student training day on university quality assurance. The workshop, which will be held at the UdG’s Montilivi Campus on 5 April, is aimed at students interested in university quality and representatives of the University of Girona student body.
The course, titled "Training in University Quality Assurance for Students", aims to equip students with the necessary tools to engage with both the internal quality assurance processes at their universities and the external review processes conducted by AQU Catalunya. In other words, it aims to provide an overview of the latest developments in quality assurance from both international and local perspectives. The participants will also acquire resources that will enable them to interpret the quality assessment data provided by the higher education system.
The training will start at 9 h in the morning and finish at 17.45 h. After a welcome from the organisers, Pau Maza, coordinator of the CEUCAT, will give a lecture entitled Contextualització sobre assegurament de la qualitat en el marc de l’EEES i el paper de l’estudiantat (Contextualising Quality Assurance Within the Framework of the EHEA and the Role of the Student Body). The next lecture, Assegurament de la qualitat de l’educació superior (Quality Assurance in Higher Education), will be given by experts from the Quality Assessment and Internationalisation and Knowledge Generation departments of AQU Catalunya.
The morning sessions will end with a round table discussion on Els sistemes interns de garantia de qualitat (SIGQ) i la implicació de l’estudiantat (Internal Quality Assurance Systems and Student Involvement), moderated by Esther Huertas, Head of Quality Assessment at AQU Catalunya. The panel will include Martí Casadesús, university professor, former vice-rector for Planning and Quality at the UdG and former director of AQU Catalunya; Santi Cots, technical manager of the UdG’s Quality Management Systems; Anna Renart, senior technician in Planning and Assessment at the UdG, and Noelia Peralvarez, a medical student at the UdG.
After lunch, the activities will resume with a workshop on Avaluació de l’educació superior (Higher Education Assessment), led by several trainers from AQU Catalunya’s Quality Assessment Department in order to facilitate work in small groups. The groups will be led by Esther Huertas, head of the Quality Assurance Department at AQU Catalunya; Albert Basart, coordinator of the Quality Assessment Department at AQU Catalunya; Albert Gili, project manager in the Quality Assessment Department and secretary of the AQU Catalunya Student Committee, and Pol Maceira, project manager in the Quality Assessment Department at AQU Catalunya.
The day will conclude with a session on the independent work required to complete the course. Students who submit their work after the course will receive a certificate accrediting 25 hours of dedication, which they can present to their university for potential credit recognition, depending on their institution’s regulations.
You can register for the course until 18 March 2025 or until all the places are taken via this link.
Previous experiences
The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) encourages students to engage with higher education institutions. To help students participate effectively in these processes, AQU Catalunya actively promotes training courses for them, such as the one held at the Agency’s headquarters in November last year.
