The CAIP meets for the second time in 2026
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission approved the pilot plan for focused evaluation on verification in institutionally accredited centres.
The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) of AQU Catalunya held its second meeting of 2026, which took place in virtual format. After reading and approving the minutes of the previous meeting, the president of the Commission and director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert, presented her report to the participants. Next, the pilot plan for focused evaluation on verification in institutionally accredited centres was submitted for approval. This was not the only pilot on the agenda, as the pilot methodology for evaluating the impact of institutional accreditation was also approved.
The members of the CAIP also approved changes introduced in the procedure for monitoring official university degree programmes. The Commission also approved another procedure focused on monitoring institutional accreditation of university centres. The president of the Commission also informed attendees about the update of the Guide for the institutional accreditation of university centres and about the update of the Procedure for the institutional accreditation of university centres.
The CAIP is the AQU Catalunya commission that ensures the correct application of the set of quality assurance instruments and processes carried out by AQU Catalunya in relation to academic programmes and institutions. The CAIP, which works through specific subcommissions, has functions such as the evaluation of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and the management of the university system; the evaluation, certification, auditing and accreditation of the quality of universities, their research and innovation centres and higher education centres; and the promotion of evaluation and comparison of quality criteria in accordance with international standards, especially with regard to teaching, research and knowledge transfer.
