Accreditation of degree programmes
The purpose of accreditation is to verify, based on an external visit, that the degree programme is being delivered as outlined in the ex-ante accreditation or validation process. This process also verifies that the degree programmes meet the required standards and that graduates achieve the established academic level.
This process is mandatory for all official university degrees offered at centres that are not institutionally accredited, which must undergo the accreditation process within six years of the initial validation or the last accreditation, or eight years for bachelor’s degrees offering between 300 and 360 credits.
If an official degree programme does not pass the accreditation process, the university the programme will not be able to enrol new students and will have to start a gradual degree discontinuation process, while respecting the rights of currently enrolled students.
