Registration for the AQU Catalunya European approach for joint international degrees. Experiences in Catalonia and future challenges webinar is now open. The event, which will take place online on 29 April between 12:00 and 14:00 h, aims to provide an overview of the implementation and purpose of the European Approach and to present the European Commission’s future strategy on the European label. It will also address the key aspects of evaluation using the European Approach methodology and, through case studies, highlight the work carried out so far in this regard at the Agency, which has already conducted 11 evaluation processes using the methodology since 2021.
The session, which is addressed to the entire Catalan Higher Education System and, in particular, to those responsible for international joint programmes, will begin with a welcome address from the Agency’s director, Jaume Valls Pasola. Afterwards, Eva Fernández, representing the Basque Country’s quality agency (UNIBASQ), will give a presentation on the European Approach: purpose and implementation. Yann-Maël Bideau, policy officer at the European Commission, will then present The European Label: strategy for the future.
This will be followed by a round table moderated by Valls and entitled The European Approach for international joint degrees. Experiences in Catalonia: opportunities and difficulties. Different representatives from Catalan universities will participate in the round table, including Meritxell Chaves (UB), Salvador Anton (URV) and Maria Galofré (UOC). Lastly, Esther Adot, from the AQU Catalunya Quality Assurance Department, will give the final talk of the session: Key aspects of evaluation using the European Approach methodology.
In 2015, ministers of higher education adopted the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes (EA) methodology at the Yerevan conference with the aim of simplifying the external evaluation processes of European joint degrees. The European Approach defines common standards based on the tools of the European Higher Education Area and without applying any additional national criteria. This methodology allows these degrees to be assessed by just one of the member states teaching the degree, with this assessment being automatically recognised by the other countries where the degree is taught.
The AQU Catalunya webinar coincides with the launch of the Agency’s renewal of its Guide to the Ex Ante Accreditation of Joint Programmes (European Approach), which is now called the Guide to the Accreditation of Joint Programmes Using the European Approach.
The session will be held in Catalan, Spanish and English. You can register from this link. Access the webinar’s programme here.
