Registration is open for the face-to-face conference ‘Research Assessment: indicators and challenges facing local research and research in Catalan’

AQU Catalunya has opened the registration period for the conference today Research Assessment: indicators and challenges facing local research and research in Catalan, which will take place on 18 September in the Aula Capella of the Historical Building at the University of Barcelona (UB) from 11:30 am to 1:45 pm.
The conference (also available online) will address the debate on the new approaches to research assessment that have been gaining momentum in recent years, in particular with regard to the assessment of university teaching staff. The need to rethink the subject, to approach it with more qualitative approaches and to take into account the social impact will be the focus of the day, which follows in the wake of numerous instances, agreements and international manifestos that have insisted on the importance of introducing changes in this regard.
To carry out these reflections, AQU Catalunya will include several presentations at the conference, which will be led by the director of the Agency, Jaume Valls Pasola. The first will be that of M. Carme Jiménez, director of the Ramon Muntaner Institute, and is called Guide to indicators for assessing actions linked to local and regional research study centres and institutes for PDI at Vives Network of Universities. The second, called CARHUS Plus+ and its update, will be led by Lluís Rovira, Director of Assessment at the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR).
Lastly, there will be a panel discussion entitled Evaluation of research in Catalan, moderated by Marina Massaguer, language policy advisor at the Ministry of Research and Universities, with the participation of Teresa Cabré, president of the Institute of Catalan Studies; Lluís Payrató, lecturer at the University of Barcelona and chair of the AQU Catalunya Working Group on scientific publications in Catalan and the concept of quality in the AQU Catalunya accreditation criteria; Mireia Sopena, editor of Edicions at the University of Barcelona; Emili Garcia, full professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Girona, and Òscar Jané, lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and member of the Board of Trustees of the Ramon Muntaner Institute.
